Experience the museums new three-dimensional terrain model to learn why we all hear the lahar test siren in Fife each month. Visitors also will have an opportunity to discover more about the forest buried under Fife. The geological history of this valley is crazy, said Museum Director Julie Watts. Its a part of our history that comes up a lot in conversation down here. We have been wanting to create an exhibit like this for quite a while now, so were very excited because it will be permanent. The museum will also be unveiling a large, colorful wall timeline of unique and fascinating moments in local Fife history. In the back exhibit room, visitors will be immersed in Japanese-American cultural history and get to view kimonos in the museums collection. Kimonos are wide-sleeved robes wrapped around the body and tied with a sash. Many people dont know that Fife was the second largest Japanese community in Washington State prior to World War II. We are planning to spotlight the stories and experiences of other inhabitants and immi-grants of Fife throughout the year as we are able. Fife has a long history of cultural diversity and strong ties that we can be proud of, said Watts.
